Support for California Parents During the COVID-19 Pandemic
COVID-19 has forever changed the landscape of our lives. We won’t even understand the full implications until life settles on the other side of the global pandemic. We are all being asked to make sacrifices, to stretch and grow in ways that are unexpected, uncomfortable, and unavoidable. We are all affected by the uncertainty of how long our current restrictions will last, of whether someone we know will become infected (or we will), of the severity of the virus.
Babies Keep Coming
Amidst all of this, life keeps happening. Birthing people are giving birth and crossing the threshold into postpartum. It’s heartbreaking that birthing people are being forced to birth alone, that they live under the threat and fear of separation from their baby, that they have to navigate labor and delivery without emotional support. And that afterward there is the uncertainty of living with a global pandemic superimposed on the life-changing act of bringing a tiny human home.
Parents in California Need Extra Support
Now more than ever, mothers, fathers, and all parents need extra support. They need reassurance, validation, and a safe space to process their fears and anxieties. This is a new world, one filled with so much uncertainty. I want to acknowledge the depths that a woman goes to during labor regardless of the type of birth she experiences or the time and healing her body needs on the other side. And that amidst a global pandemic the need to feel connected and supported only increases.
We are in this together. Part of what is being asked of each of us is to keep showing up with an empathetic heart. No one is unscathed by this experience. We are suffering a collective trauma that will take time to assess and heal from. Right now, everyone globally is in survival mode. That’s hard enough, regardless of whether you are pregnant or have young children. Both those factors add a layer to this experience that can feel overwhelming and lead to burnout.
Sliding Scale Teletherapy for CA Parents
That is why I am offering my services, for individuals and couples anywhere in California through teletherapy. To acknowledge and honor the economic burden this pandemic is placing on so many of us, I am offering sessions on a sliding scale for two months from your start date.
Free Teletherapy for Healthcare Workers
Additionally, I want to acknowledge the California healthcare workers on the frontlines who are literally putting their health and life at risk to take care of and support people who are infected with the COVID-19 virus. What you are being asked to hold for the collective is beyond comprehension. Therefore, I am offering two pro-bono crisis sessions to anyone working the frontlines to combat this virus so that you can process your trauma, emotions, thoughts, and feelings.
We are being tested in unprecedented ways, and we can show up for each other with unprecedented tenderness and love.
Let’s talk.
We would love to connect with you.
